by Ted Knap Death, Obituary – On January 6, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri, Theodore Franklin Knapp, age 83, who formerly resided in Overland Park, Kansas, passed away. Frank and Katherine Knapp welcomed their son Ted into the world on December 6th, 1939 in the town of Emporia, Kansas. A visitation is scheduled to take place at the Amos Family Funeral Home on Friday, January 13th, from 9:30 am until 11:00 am. After that, at eleven in the morning, there will be a memorial service. At the Graceland Cemetery in Burlington, Kansas, there will be a service by the graveside on the fourteenth of January at eleven in the morning.
Ted was the hardest worker you could have ever met. He grew up on a farm outside Gridley, Kansas, and spent his childhood there. He was very pleased with himself for having come from a rural background and making it big in the metropolis. In 1961, Ted wed Carol “Sue” Curtiss, the girl he had been in love with since they were in high school. Tim, Tamra, and Traci were the happy products of their joint efforts as parents, and they made their parents very proud.
Ted received his degree in architecture from Kansas State University, where he also graduated. During his time there, he participated in every art class that was offered to him. Despite the fact that he made his money as an architect, he was an artist at heart. In 1981, he and his wife Sue founded the architectural firm known as TK Architects. They worked together to turn the company into one of the most successful entertainment and movie architecture firms in the world. Because of his prosperity, he and his family were able to embark on extensive travel, and he particularly enjoyed his time spent living in London. Because it afforded him the opportunity to observe fascinating places, his journey was an additional source of blessing for his artwork. During the course of his career, he was honored with multiple accolades in a variety of art competitions and painted some of the most breathtaking buildings and landscapes in the world.
In his later years, he spent a lot of time at the family lake house, where he liked hosting gatherings for his family and friends, fishing in each of the area’s lakes, and taking his pontoon out for the evening boat parade. Ted was a huge fan of Kansas State University, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals, and he attended every single game.
Ted was the epitome of a great gentleman and friend, and he was known for his infamous chuckle to go along with his contagious smile. He will be sorely missed by everyone. His mother and father, Frank and Katherine Knapp, as well as his wife, Carol Sue Knapp, and his sister, Katy Jacobs, all passed away before Ted. Ben Knapp, his grandson, as well as other nieces and nephews are among those who will miss him after his passing. He is survived by his three children, Tim Knapp (and his wife Laura), Tamra Knapp (and her husband Christie Knight), and Traci Thompson (and her husband Al).
