by Sidney Joseph Death, Obituary – Sidney Joseph Melanson, who was 81 years old and a resident of Joggins, passed away recently, and it is with a heavy heart that we relay the news of his passing. On the tenth of January in the year 2023, on a Tuesday, Sidney passed away in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. He was the son of deceased parents, Sidney “Sunshine” Melanson and Agnes (Edwards) Melanson. Both of his parents have now passed away. Joggins was his place of birth. In addition to being a dedicated husband and parent, Sidney was a wonderful brother, uncle, brother-in-law, great grandfather, and great grandfather. He also had a brother-in-law who was his brother-in-law.
His wife Helen (Jones), his daughter Sandra (Darren) Anderson, his grandchildren Jessica, Cole, Owen, Daniel, and Marissa, his great-grandchildren Addison and Tara, and his siblings Doris, Joan, Gloria, Janice, Brenda, and Bruce, along with their families, will mournfully miss him. His passing will also be deeply felt by his great-grandchildren Addison and Tara. His son Paul, as well as his brothers Jackie and Clifford, passed away before him. He was predeceased by his mother and father, as well as his son Paul. The arrangements are being handled and overseen by the Jones Family Funeral Centre, which can be found in Amherst at 70 Church Street. They are in charge of and responsible for
the oversight of the arrangements (902-667-8777). Because cremation was Sidney’s chosen disposition for her body, there will be no visitation or funeral service held for her. Her remains have already been cremated. If you would like to make a memorial contribution in Sidney’s honor, you are more than welcome to do so to either the CRHCC Palliative Care or the Cumberland County Hospice.
