Robert Cashman Death, Obituary – Former member of the teaching staff at Fitchburg Kittery, Maine After a lengthy battle with illness, Robert Patrick Cashman, age 76, passed away on December 28th, 2022 in Kittery, Maine. He was the son of the late George Cashman and Helen (Brooks) Cashman, and he was born in Fitchburg. In addition to his wife Susan (Scaramuzzi), Bob is survived by his brother Raymond and his wife Paula of Marshfield, Massachusetts, as well as several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher, who resided in North Wales, Pennsylvania; his brother Gerald,
who resided in Agawam, Massachusetts; and his uncle Dr. Philip G. Cashman, who took on the role of Bob’s surrogate parents after the deaths of both of Bob’s biological parents before Bob turned the age of ten. He attended Fitchburg High School, Mount Wachusett Community College, and Fitchburg State University, graduating from all three institutions. Bob spent several years as a teacher in the Fitchburg Public School System, where he was responsible for teaching Earth Science. He was able to get along well with all of his pupils.
According to what was written in the school’s yearbook, Bob frequently wrote and performed raps about the importance of education as well as other contemporary societal issues. Students eagerly joined him in an effort to encourage positive attitudes among their classmates and quickly became his allies. After he had retired from teaching, he began working as a job developer for Work Inc. on a part-time basis. Before assuming his current role, Bob was the manager of the camera department at Prime Value Mart. After that, he moved on to become a sales representative for Olympus Camera, Inc.,
where he received recognition on the monthly High Rollers List of the top ten salesmen in the country on a constant basis. He mastered photography through the completion of a variety of classes and seminars and was subsequently honored for his work.
