Richard Speechly Death, Obituary – Over the last weekend, my uncle Richard Speechly passed away in an unexpected manner. Even though this information is terribly heartbreaking, we are able to take some comfort in the fact that he was spending his final minutes doing something he loved—skiing—before he passed away. The unexpected passing of Richard Speechly, who was also our stepfather, our father, and our husband, has left us in a state of complete shock and total sadness. After working at the Philadelphia Gear Corporation at its King of Prussia site for almost to half a century, he decided to take early retirement.
His whole life, he had been a member of the Valley Forge Presbyterian Church and had never missed a service there. Surviving members of the family include a son, Richard Speechley, and his wife, Roberta, who reside in Fresno, California; a daughter, Jodi, who is married to Thomas Carey and lives in Douglassville; and two grandchildren, Matthew Carey and Richard Carey, in addition to two step-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Arend LaBlue. Also surviving are two step-great-grandchildren. His older brother William Speechley had already passed away prior to his passing. He was the only member of his family left alive.
On Wednesday, January 11th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, there will be a viewing at the Layton Lindquist Mortuary for anybody who knew Richard and would like to pay their respects.
Or at eleven in the morning on Thursday, January 12 at the stake center, which may be found at 1588 East Gentile Street in Layton, Utah.
