Melissa Ashby Obituary, Death – The female victim of a collision that resulted in fatal injuries in Rockford has been identified by the office of the city’s coroner.
The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has made public the name of the woman who was driving one of the automobiles that was involved in the accident that occurred on Friday evening in Rockford and resulted in her death. The accident involved two other vehicles.
It was determined that the woman in question was Melissa Ashby, who at the time was 24 years old. She was born and raised in Rockford. Late on a Friday night, the crash took occurred in the neighborhood that is encompassed by Springfield Avenue and Safford Road. A pickup truck and another vehicle were involved in a collision, as stated by witnesses who spoke to the Rockford police department following the incident.
The woman who had been riding in the other vehicle, whose identity was later established to be Ashby, ultimately succumbed to her injuries and passed dead after being transferred to the hospital. Ashby had been killed. The findings of the medical examiner’s office indicate that chest trauma brought on by blunt force was the cause of Ashby’s death.
There has been no success in establishing the identification of the individual who was behind the wheel of the pickup truck. As of Monday evening, the defendant remained free of any allegations that had been leveled against him.
