Laura Thorsen Death, Obituary – The family of Laura Thorsen, who taught at Strandwood Elementary and passed away not too long ago, has the unwavering support of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District during this difficult period in their lives as a result of their loss of their loved one. Cheri Scripter, principle of Strandwood Elementary School, paid tribute to Laura Thorsen, who went away on December 23 after a valiant struggle against cancer. Thorsen passed away after a long and heroic battle with the disease. Thorsen was a coworker who was very well liked at both the Ygnacio Valley Elementary School and the Strandwood Elementary School.
Scripter referred to Thorsen as “one of MDUSD’s finest” individuals. “She was a talented and adored teacher and a wonder-filled person,” Principal Scripter said in a note that was sent home with Strandwood children and their families on January 11th. The note read: “She was a wonder-filled person.” ” She shone a bright light on classrooms and staff meetings with the genuine love she had for the profession of teaching, as well as with the profound and sincere commitment she had to each and every pupil entrusted to her care “Anyone who is interested in attending her funeral services is welcome to do so on Sunday,
February 5 between the hours of three o’clock in the afternoon and six o’clock in the evening at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, which is located at 399 Wiget Lane in Walnut Creek. The invitation was extended by the Thorsen family.
