Chesterfield County is the place of his birth. Judge Gill spent his childhood in the little towns of Ettrick and Matoaca, where he was educated by some of the most remarkable people who had ever lived and who did so at some of the most remarkable times in the annals of human history. In the end, he worked his way up to become a judge himself.
The fact that Judge Gill attended Ettrick/Matoaca Elementary Schools, Petersburg City Public Schools, Hampden-Sydney College, and TC Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond was nothing short of a stroke of serendipity. Petersburg, Virginia is the home to each and every one of these establishments. Every single one of these educational institutions gave him access to an education of the highest caliber, which was directed by the most devoted and experienced professional educator.
During the entirety of the time that he spent attending college and law school, he held a job with the Department of Defense of the United States of America. This job spanned the entire period that he was in school. After completing his legal studies, he went into business with Oliver D. Rudy, who was not only a close friend of his but also someone who helped him develop his career. Oliver D. Rudy was a mentor to him. They began working together as attorneys in 1971 and practiced law until 1987, when Judge Gill was appointed to the bench of the 12th Judicial Circuit Court, succeeding the Honorable Ernest P. Gates.
During that time, they worked together as attorneys. Judge Gill served on the bench of the 12th Judicial Circuit Court from 1971 until 1987 after being appointed to that position. The Honorable Judge Gill did end up marrying the girl he had had a crush on ever since they were both students in junior high school; they went on to have two children together as a married couple. It is no longer going to be possible for Judge Gill to keep the special relationship that he has with his brother and their extended family. This is because Judge Gill is retiring.
