Joseph Robert Death, Obituary – We regret to inform you that Retired Detective Inspector Joseph Donald Robert (Bob) LEMIEUX #5188 passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2023 in Mills River, North Carolina. We send our condolences to the LEMIEUX family. This information is being conveyed to you with the utmost sense of remorse on our part. Bob joined the Ontario Provincial Police on June 30, 1975, and was stationed at the Foleyet Detachment shortly after beginning his service. After he had finished the period of time that was authorized for his assignment, he was transferred to the Sebringville Detachment. On January 4, 1993, Bob was awarded the rank of Sergeant and reassigned to the Anti-Rackets Branch of the police department.
Bob was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant on the 18th day of May in the year 1998. Staff Sergeant Lemieux was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Branch on November 12th, 2001, as part of a reorganization that took place that day. On August 19, 2002, Bob received the promotion of Detective Inspector and was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Branch in North Bay. On June 5, 2006, Bob was promoted and transferred to the Criminal Investigations Branch of the General Headquarters. On January 31, 2009, Detective Inspector Bob Lemieux retired from the Ontario Provincial Police after having served with the organization for more than 33 years.
After Bob had completed his time with the Ontario Provincial Police and resigned from the force, he became a member of the Orillia Chapter of the Ontario Provincial Police Veterans’ Association.
Bob had just reached the age of 68 when he passed away, and he had been retired for more than 13 years at the time of his departure when he finally left this world. I am truly sorry for the loss that you, the Lemieux family, and all of your friends have endured. I hope and pray that Bob is able to find peace in his life.
