Joseph Amann Obituary, Death – On January 4, 2023, Joseph William Amann Jr., age 20, from Greene Township, Pennsylvania, fell away suddenly at his home. He was the son of Joseph W., Sr. and Molly A. (Wells) Amann and was born on October 18, 2002 in Erie. His mother’s maiden name was Wells. Joe attended services at the Saint James RC Church regularly. He graduated from Saint James School in 2017 and then went on to complete his education at Cathedral Prep in 2021. He was enrolled at Gannon University, where he was working towards earning a degree in accounting. Joe was an athlete his whole life; while he was in elementary school, he participated in soccer and basketball games, ran cross country, and was a member of the Harborcreek Little League, the travel baseball team, the American Legion baseball team, and the All-Star team. He was also known for his competitive spirit. In high school, he kept up his participation in a number of sports, including cross country running, baseball, lacrosse, and CYO basketball.
Joe was an avid participant in outdoor activities during the entire year. He was an exceptional skier, had a passion for water skiing, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He cheered for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team and the Dallas Cowboys football team. He cherished the time he got to spend with his younger brother Michael and cherished the fact that he was a big brother. Joe’s excellent sense of humor and outgoing attitude will be something that people remember most about him. His parents, Joseph W., Sr. and Molly A. (Wells) Amann; his brother, Michael A. Amann; his maternal grandparents, Harry and Palma Amann; his aunts and uncles, Harry Amann, Jr. (Jackie), Emily Graves (Chris), and Mary Morris (Greg); his cousins, Audrey and Kelsey Amann, Gregory, Garrett, and Sarah Morris, Evan and Maria Ewings, and Kaylee Graves
Joe’s maternal grandparents, Thomas and Nancy Wells, as well as a beloved uncle, Chad Ewings, passed away before him. Chad was also Joe’s paternal grandfather. On Monday, January 9th, family and friends are invited to call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek), and they are further invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11 AM at Saint James RC Church, which is located at 2635 Buffalo Rd. Joe will be laid to rest in the Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, close to his cherished Uncle Chad. The service will be private. There are two schools that can accept memorial contributions: Saint James School or Cathedral Preparatory School.
