According to the authorities, Jose Mauricio Argueta Rodas, who was 72 years old, passed away as a result of the accident. He was a passenger in the car that was involved in the accident and was injured as a result.
On Interstate 235, close to the Guthrie Avenue exit, witnesses saw the event take place. According to reports from the police, a snowplow truck that belonged to the Iowa Department of Transportation was parked on the shoulder of the road. The emergency warning lights on the truck were turned on, and there were three personnel from the Iowa Department of Transportation who were riding in the vehicle. Exactly at that moment, the car that Rodas was operating veered off the roadway and collided head-on with the trailer of a truck. Rodas was not injured in the collision.
