He had been a resident there for a fair number of years. The news caused us to feel a profound sense of loss. About a week ago, we learned that he had passed away. We were quite saddened by the news. He was a well-known figure in the subject of mammalogy in both Ireland and Britain, and he was recognized for being unusually generous with his time and his skill. Both of these qualities contributed to his prominence in the field.
Both countries were familiar with him due to his stellar reputation. In addition to that, he possessed a good deal of generosity.
