We are sorry to notify you of this news and express our deepest condolences. As we deliver this news, it weighs heavily on all of our emotions. Donald, Margaret’s faithful partner of the past 59 years, who has been married to her. A devoted and loving parent of Gordon (Joanne), Brian, and Debbie (Doug Joannette), as well as a proud grandfather to Tyler and Luke Hutchinson. His children’s names are Gordon (Joanne), Brian, and Debbie.
His devoted cousin Carl Samson and his wife Sylvia, his brother-in-law John Jarvis and his wife Nadine, and Peter Jarvis and his wife Noreen, in addition to his many coworkers and acquaintances, will miss him tremendously. He will also be missed by a large number of other people. Donald took his retirement from the Correctional Service of Canada, where he had worked for more than three decades and held the position of Assistant Warden before leaving that organization. Donald felt a tremendous lot of satisfaction as a result of his success in this endeavor. He was a very active guy who enjoyed participating in a wide variety of sports, such as golf, curling, fishing, and hunting.
He was also an avid outdoorsman. Because he worked so diligently and was so dedicated, he was held in high esteem and adored by everyone who worked with him, as well as by his friends and family. We would like to express our most heartfelt gratitude to each and every member of the staff on the fourth floor of Rideaucrest, who provided Donald with the excellent and caring care that he needed throughout his stay there.
Donald had specifically requested that his body be cremated before he passed away, and these wishes were carried out. On Saturday, February 4, 2023, a gathering in his honor will take place between the hours of 2:30 and 4:30 pm at the Celebration Center, which is located within the James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd., entering from the rear parking lot doors). To honor Donald’s memory, anybody who wishes to do so is invited to make a donation to either the Kingston Humane Society or the Partners in Mission Food Bank. Both organizations will gratefully accept their support.
