According to the school administration, Coach Davis volunteered his time as a coach for a total of six years and had a significant impact on everyone he met. Jeff Peck, the coach of the South Iredell High baseball team, expressed how devastated everyone at the school was by the sudden departure of their cherished mentor, Davis. “His contagious passion for the game of baseball, as well as his consistent modeling on how to do things the right way, will be dearly missed by all of us in our South Iredell Baseball family,” said one member of the team.
Coach Davis was praised by the principal, Robert Little, for being an admirable individual. “South Iredell has lost a terrific coach, a facilitator of information on and off the field, a truly great guy, and I have lost a lifetime friend,” said Little. “I have also lost a buddy for life.” A funeral service for Coach Davis will be place on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Beulah Baptist Church, and a memorial service will follow immediately afterward, as stated by the school district. According to the administration, those interested in supporting the South Iredell High School baseball squad can make contributions.
